Our international competition consists of 85 short films, which will battle it out to the public vote and a jury prize. All genres can compete, from narrative fiction to hardcore experimental, from documentary to animation. We have divided the shorts into 15 blocks which all have their own theme to which the titles refer. If you feel like catching a cute movie with the missus we recommend “Sweet!”, but if you’d rather catch and gangstermovie with your mates then the block “Crooks!” will definitely be your thing.

With the quality present it promises to be an exciting race this year. But what’s a good competition without decent prize though? Not to worry, as we are handing out €2000 in cold hard cash to the winner. The best student movie out of the entries for the international competition will be awarded a price as well, a camcorder by Sony that is.

An official jury will be pick its favourites, but Amsterdam Shorts! is ruled by the people as well. After every screening you can cast your vote and drop a ballot-paper into the designated mailboxes. At the end of the festival the winner of the public vote will be awarded a price of €500.

All winners will be announced during the closing ceremony in Kriterion on Saturday at 20:00h.
