
Hanro Smitsman
In the year 2000, Hanro Smitsman (1967) mastered in film directing at the Amsterdam Academy for Film and Television. Since then he has been directing various short films that have been acclaimed in the Netherlands and abroad. Informed by a socially engaged artistic practice, his award-winning short films Dajo (2004) Engel en Broer (2005) and Raak (2006) have attracted the attention of the international critique and contributed to situate him as one of the most talented filmmakers of his generation. His debut feauture film Skin hit cinemas last march.
Floortje Smit
Floortje Smit (1979) studied History and Journalism at the Rijksuniverseit in Groningen. During her days as a student she already wrote a lot about film. After graduating she worked for various television-programmes. Today she is a free-lance film critic for a leading Dutch newspaper, De Volkskrant. Next to this she interviews filmmakers for De Avonden, as late-night radioshow.
Mila Schlingemann
While completing a degree in Filmstudies at the Universtity of Amsterdam Mila (1978) fell in love with cinema. Apart from studying film, she worked as a programmer for Amsterdam’s arthouse-cinema Kriterion. After that she also worked for Het Ketelhuis. She was co-founder of the Unheard Film Festival, the first festival completely about soundtracks and music in film.
Today Mila works as a programme maker at De Brakke Grond theatre. Having gone through a wide range of disciplines Mila’s fresh few on both new and established forms of art is a perfect addition to the Amsterdam Shorts! jury-team.
Freddie Tratlehner
Freddie Tratlehner (1983), commonly known as 'Vieze Fur', is a Dutch rapper. He is part of the successful three-headed Amsterdam based rapformation De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig who scored a huge hit with "Watskeburt?!" in 2005. After "Watskeburt?!" the group was the subject of a short docusoap. The four-piece documentary was broadcoasted on national television in September 2006.
